How is the Tweddle Board appointed and how does it operate?

The Tweddle Board is appointed by the Minister for Health and sets organisational direction and strategy and monitors performance. Board meetings are bi-monthly.

Applications for board positions open every year with each position available for a three year term. The Department of Health are responsible for advertising the board position vacancy and select the relevant candidate. There are subcommittees within the Board covering key areas of business including Governance and Remuneration, Finance and Risk, Ends and Research, New Services and Programs and Fundraising. All Board members participate on at least one sub committee.

How is Tweddle constituted?

Tweddle Child and Family Health Service is accountable to the people of Victoria through The Hon Jenny Mikakos MP, Minister for Families and Children and Minister for Youth Affairs and the Department of Health & Human Services.

The Board is appointed by The Hon Jill Hennessy MP, Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services. The Minister for Health sets organisational direction and strategy and monitors performance.  As a Public Hospital, Tweddle is also required to comply with a range of legislation and health sector policy including government policies for financial and human resource management practice.

The Board has adopted the Carver Model of Policy Governance to guide the fulfilment of its responsibilities and has established a range of policies that reflect that model.

Board meetings are held every second month with special agenda meetings being held as needed. The Board reviews its policies and procedures each year each. Tweddle employ over 90 permanent and part time employees including registered nurses, early childhood professionals and corporate team members.
