Tweddle celebrate Robin Clark Award achievements as part of Child Protection Week

Posted by Kerrie Gottliebsen | 03/09/13

Child Protection Week is coordinated nationally by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and, in Victoria, by the Department of Human Services.  As part of Child Protection Week, Tweddle was proud to attend the 12th Annual Robin Clark Memorial Awards held at Deakin Edge, Federation Square.

The aim of the award is to recognise service provision and leadership of the highest standards that significantly improves the lives of vulnerable children, young people and families in Victoria across the Child and Family Service sector. The awards are in the memory of Robin Dennis Clark (1936-2001) a widely respected, inspirational leader in the field of child, youth and family services.

The Minister for Community Services the Hon Mary Wooldridge MP and Commissioner for Children and Young People and the Commissioner for Children and Young People Bernie Geary OAM spoke at the awards.  We were reminded about the importance of seeing families as heroes and not just as vulnerable or disadvantaged – there’s a lot of ability in facing adverse situations.

Tweddle CEO Ms Jacquie O’Brien reflected on the importance of our work with children “We have to help clients celebrate their achievements, no matter how small.  They are often big steps in the lives of children.  We’re all doing our part and making a contribution to building healthy families and communities”

Tweddle provides a ‘Parenting Assessment and Skills Development’ program for families involved with Child Protection Services.   We recognise the great work of Tweddle staff in delivering a strengths based approach to supporting families within a child focussed and family centred practice.  Tweddle congratulate all Robin Clark Award winners, nominees and staff
