Sunrise Women's Groups in Laverton, Melton and Caroline Springs

Posted by Kerrie Gottliebsen | 07/01/13

Sunrise Women’s Groups are for women of all ages who have a disability and want to meet other women and feel connected. The group is open to women with a physical and/ or intellectual disability, and women who experience mental illness.  They come together to:

Build friendships and support each other
Get information about staying healthy
Try new things and have some fun!
Build our confidence
Get to know our local community
Find out about services
Work together to break down barriers

There is a group that gets together fortnightly in Laverton, Melton, and Caroline Springs. All venues are wheelchair accessible and public transport is nearby. If you are interested in joining but feel a little unsure,  contact  Vicki the facilitator, she is happy to talk on the phone or to meet with you. If there are things that make it difficult for you to get out and about let Vicki know—she can help you work out what support you might need. You can even bring a friend to the group if this would help.

Every 6 months, the group plans what they want to do when they get together. It’s free to join and the activities are mostly free too. Morning tea is provided as well as regular guest presenters who speak to us about things like keeping safe when out in the community, managing pain and medication, building healthy relationships
and getting a goods night’s sleep. Activities so far have included jewellery making, visiting the zoo, beauty therapy & massage and Tai Chi

They love to just have a chat too! To find out more about the group or where it is, and to get a copy of our latest calendar of events, please call or email Vicki at Women’s Health West:
