World Mental Health Day

Posted by Kerrie Gottliebsen | 10/10/12

World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy. WMHD is an annual program held on 10 October to raise public awareness of mental health issues worldwide. The primary objective of WMHD is to promote open discussion of mental health issues, as well as emphasise the importance of seeking help and early intervention when needed.

In Australia, WMHD coincides with National Mental Health Week (7 – 13 October). The Mental Health Council of Australia’s theme for 2012 is “Whoever you are and wherever you live, you’re not alone”. Join the national conversation on Facebook or Twitter (#wmhd2012) to help build awareness and understanding of mental health issue or visit the website
